Saddam

He was one of those former world leaders that we refer to by his first name only. Today, Saddam Hussein was executed by the current Iraqi government.

God Father of Soul

Thousands of people line up outside the Apollo Theater in Harlem to view James Brown's casket. Throngs of well-wishers jammed the famed theater, straining for a glimpse of the funeral procession of the ionic figure. Brown, 73, died of congestive heart failure on Christmas Day.

Police Brutality Demonstration

Several hundred protestors gather near Wall Street in New York City to protest the shooting of an unarmed black man by police officers in Queens on his wedding day. The march in Manhattan's financial district was the latest in a series of protests over the death of Sean Bell, who was killed last month.

Messages on the Beam

The Construction of World Trade Center officially begins. Family members of the victims of the September 11 attacks along with rescue workers write messages on a steel beam which will be used as the first official beam for construction of the Freedom Tower.

The Good Rev.

Not the best flattering image of Rev. Al Sharpton, but a funny looking one. I do like the good reverend, it is just something I shot today.

David Duke

This is simply embarrassing. An oblivious image that will be seen around the world as just THAT. David Duke, a white racists American and head of the KKK, schmoozing the Iranian President, Ahmadinejad. See the rest of the images here.

Yet Again

It seems like every six months or so the Islamic Republic suffers a major air travel tragedy, today a military plane carrying elite members of the Revolutionary Guards crashed killing 36 people. Russian designed Antonov 74 crashed immediately right after takeoff at Mehrabad Airport. This is the 3rd military jet crash in Iran in less than 2 years.

Black Friday

For the 2nd year in a row, I covered Rev. Billy and his Church of Stop Shopping on the day after Thanksgiving, which is known as Black Friday by retailers. He is not a religious person. He uses his act (Rev Billy) to bring people's attention to labor, environmental and other issues.
On this day he walked through SoHo and exercised the demons out of the cash register inside the Victoria's Secret shop! Victoria's Secret company prints millions and millions of catalogs using non-recycled paper from trees cut in virgin forests in Canada.

Adam, Eve and Me

I file this under "I really do not get art installation". I actully had to cover this for a client. The artist, Marco Perego, had one of his creations (a giant iPod) placed in front of the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue with extras, and people in monkey masks, the works...(called Adam, Eve and Me) till the cops showed up and made him remove everything.
